Scholarship Applications

The Main Line Martin Luther King Association provides scholarships to high school and college students who reside, attend school, and/or worship in the Main Line area.

Scholarship Details

    • Applicants must either be a resident of worship in, or have attended school in the Main Line Community (Bala Cynwyd through Frazier).

    • They must demonstrate an understanding of the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., be graduating or have graduated high school and planning to matriculate to a post-secondary school of higher education.

  • Completed scholarship application and the below listed documentation MUST be submitted to the selection committee by April 30.

    • Recommendation from either the high school principal, guidance counselor, or teacher

    • Recommendation from a religious or community leader

    • Copy of the most recent high school or college transcript

    • A 500 to 700 word essay on the following topic: Describe your personal community service experience and your plans for future community service efforts. NOTE: community service is said to promote multicultural understanding and in an effort to keep Dr. King's dream alive, a topic of community services feels fitting.

    • Scholarship Recipients (or a representative) must attend the June Award Reception and the January Sunday Program, Honoring the legacy of Dr. King (Dates, Time, and Location will be announced). If the scholarship recipient (or a representative) does not attend both events, the scholarship will be forfeited.

    • Upon receipt of all materials, the scholarship selection committee will review all applicant documentation. The committee reserves the right to request additional documentation if needed. It is the responsibility of each applicant to submit required documentation before the aforementioned due date.

    • Recipients of the scholarship will be notified of the award by approximately May 31.
